The Govberg Jewelers legacy began in 1922 when young watchmaker, and diamond expert, Albert Govberg opened a family-run specialty store along Philadelphia’s historic Jewelers Row. Close to 90 years later, Govberg Jewelers is celebrated as a true Philadelphia icon, bringing exquisite wares to the people of a city rich in history and tradition. Under the dynamic leadership of Albert’s grandson Danny Govberg, who proudly works alongside his sons, Brian and Marc, this seasoned jeweler has garnered a reputation far beyond the Philadelphia City limits.
Govberg Jewelers underwent a tremendous transformation over the past four generations, and today boasts three exquisite locations - two in the heart of Philadelphia’s Center City and the third in the neighboring suburb of Bala Cynwyd. One of the Center City stores is located in the Marketplace at the Comcast Center, home to one of the largest Philadelphia employers: Comcast. High-profile executives, Philadelphians and tourists cross the Comcast Center’s threshold each day, where they come across Govberg’s elegant boutique.
After five successful years within Philadelphia’s elite Boyds department store, Govberg Jewelers moved its flagship store to the heart of the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood during the summer of 2010. This location stands adjacent to the city’s elite boutiques and eateries on Walnut Street, comprising an elaborate sales floor and the Govberg corporate offices, including the Internet, inventory and marketing departments. “The design of this store continues to encourage company growth as daily operations are streamlined all under one roof,” says Danny. “Plus, we are able to enhance the customer experience, with the creation of a discrete and intimate atmosphere for luxury shopping.”
In early 2012, Govberg Jewelers will make another momentous move, relocating the Bala Cynwyd store to the Suburban Square Shopping Center. Stay tuned for many more updates on this exciting chapter in Govberg Jewelers’ history!
